Tub and Shower
Calgon take me away… Relax in a nice long bubble bath or freshen up in a cool quick shower. To many of us our bathrooms are our sanctuaries where we can wind down and regenerate from the day’s stress. When problems arise with your tub or shower Quick Action Plumbers can quickly diagnosis and resolve your problem so that you do not have to.
Is your tub/shower clogged or draining slow?
It is possible that the fixture drain may have a slight clog. We advise not to use any type of liquid drain cleaning solutions. These products generally do not reach the stoppage and in most cases crystalize within the lines, therefore, making matters worse . However, they can be used for preventive maintainace while drains are flowing. Stoppages occur for many different reasons: everyday use; hair and soap scrum are the most common, or on occasions it may be caused by more serious conditions such as a break in the line. In any case, Quick Action Plumbers can remove any and all stoppage by running our electrical mechanical snake through the line to clear the blockage or in the worst case replacing the line.
Tub spout is loose / broken: Either can be replaced with a universal tub spout that has either a compression fitting that will slip over a ½ inch OD rigged pipe and tighten. Or should be replaced with a spout which has female threads inside of the spout to accommodate a ½ male adapter.
Tub spout is leaking: If the leak is coming from the end of the spout itself, this is usually caused by the washers or the seats. Once the washers are torn and the seats are rough it is best to replace both. A leaky spout or faucet can cost a homeowner $$$. However, if leaks are appearing in other areas, then the problem may be coming from one of the many connections and pipes located behind the wall in the bathroom.
Shower pan leaking: The most commonly found leaks: cermanic tiled shower dated approximately 1975 and early would be of a lead material, which Quick Action Plumbers would recommend replacing instead of repairing. Vinyl pre- fabricated shower pans generally develop a leak around the drain outlet, which is common and can be repaired simply by resealing the flange with plumber’s puddy. In some cases it is not the actual shower pan or drain leaking at all, but the shower water is escaping thru the shower fixture trim and can normally be tighten or the escutcheon seals may need replacing. Also, in cases where you have ceramic tile, water could be escaping through deteriorated grout lines which would need regrouting.
